Remote weAPon condition-based moniTORing System
RAPTOR is a European defence initiative aiming to enhance military readiness, reliability, and safety through advanced predictive maintenance solutions for firearms.
The project’s overall objective is to achieve Predictive Maintenance of firearms by co-designing and co-developing with all participating and closely engaged end-users’ tools, applications and technologies, constituting the RAPTOR low-cost Condition Monitoring System.
RAPTOR comprises low-cost, robust, purpose-built printed sensors, bespoke miniature electronics, robust encrypted and secure wireless communication and the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for the processing of the data into useful and meaningful information (forecasting) for predictive maintenance alerting. This will enable the weapons’ operators to respond to critical mission operations more effectively, to reduce the probability of weapons’ failure by achieving predictive maintenance and to increase their reliability and safety.
